(Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy)
In short, this is a method which stays close to the moment-to-moment experiences within the room. It aims to work closely with identifying the ways we learnt to protect ourselves in the past and which are not serving us in the current. It is based on psychoanalysis but attends to the work in quite a different and much more active way. It enables a more intense but expedient and often deeper way of working. This can allow relief from unhelpful patterns of relating to ourselves and others. Whilst ‘short-term’ can refer to the more rapid process of change, length of treatment depends on what an individual is looking for and what is necessary on a case-by-case basis.
