Jungian analysis

This is based on the work of C G Jung, an eminent Swiss psychiatrist and a pioneer in depth psychology, i.e. working with the unconscious. He was initially a close collaborator with Sigmund Freud, before branching out on his own . Above all, Jung had a way of conceptualising the unconscious, not just as a place where we keep aspects of ourselves away from consciousness, but as a place where our creativity and potential resides. Jung also stayed close to images and symbols in a way that enabled growth. The way in which he works with image and dream is something which I draw on in my work, including post-Jungian methods such as embodied imagination (a powerful dreamwork method). There are crossovers with Jungian ways of practicing and ISTDP, such as in the use of active imagination and staying closer to affect/feeling in opening up areas of the unconscious, as yet not accessible.
